Basic Wire Skills - Important if you want to do more than string beads...

This is a technique class which concentrates on basic wire skills. You'll learn silly little things like how to hold your hand, your pliers, and your wire when learning each skill...and then by the end of the class realize how important hand / plier / wire positions are. The pictures above are small samples of what you will be able to create by the end of the class. Each skill you learn is broken down into easy steps with a step by step sheet for each participant to use in class and take home. Those who have taken the class enjoy good fun and laughter while learning these skills.

"... a great class for those who want to make jewelry with a bit of a flair... something other than just stringing beads."

Ability Level: Beginner
Time: Approximately 3 hours
Cost: $65 per person
Max #: 4
Location: The Brush Art Gallery or other predetermined location

Supplies / Tools Needed for this Class*
• round nose (aka rosary) pliers
• chain nose pliers
• wire cutter
• ruler
• fine felt tip permanent marker
• hemostat - (will have some available for purchase in class)
• beads - please be sure they're large enough to handle easily with not too large a hole.

*For this Basic class I will have tools available which can be shared, however if you plan on expanding your skills, I suggest that you buy your own set. Feel free to CONTACT ME if you have any questions. There are lots of tools out there and I might be able to guide you or know of a local source.

We will be working with 16, 18 and 20 gauge copper wire. Copper wire is good practice wire if your intent is to make something out of silver, as the cost of silver has sky rocketed. Included in the cost of this class will be enough silver wire to make a pair of earrings. Silver ear wires will be provided. If you want additional dead soft silver wire there will be some available for purchase by the yard in class.
